RemGood User Guide

This is the same guide you will find inside the app, under Settings → About → RemGood Guide. Read it start to finish, or jump to the part you need.

Categories, Not Folders

Everything in RemGood belongs to a category — Automobile, Health, Kitchen, Warranty, or any you invent. The Home tab opens on those categories rather than a running feed, so you find things the same way you filed them. Switch between Grid view for a compact visual overview and List view for more detail, drag categories in Grid view to arrange them your way, and long-press any item to move it to a different category.

Adding an Item

Tap the Add tab and give the item a clear name — that is the only required field. Choose a category from the list you have already built, or create a new one inline without leaving the screen. Set the Item Date for when it happened or happens, and switch on an Expiry date if it has a deadline. Everything else is optional. New items land at the end of your priority list on the Home tab, ready to be reordered. If you open Add from inside a category, that category is selected for you automatically.

Reminders That Repeat

Switch on Enable Reminder and RemGood sets the time to your expiry or item date automatically — the value you almost always want — so you rarely need to adjust it. Choose a repeat interval and recurring obligations regenerate on their own: daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, or yearly. A filter you replace twice a year gets entered exactly once. Reminders arrive as local notifications scheduled on your device, so they work with no account, no login, and no internet connection.

Rich Notes

Every item has a notes field that handles more than plain text: bold, italic, underline, bullet lists, checkboxes, and adjustable text size. It is the right place for the model number, the steps you follow every time, or the detail that does not belong in a title. Tap the keyboard icon beside a field to lower the keyboard and keep scrolling.

Photos & Documents

Attach as many photos as an item needs, taken with the camera or picked from your library, along with documents such as receipts, manuals, and warranty cards. Copies are stored inside the app on your device, so they are not links that can break later. Optionally, photos you capture in RemGood can also be saved to your own Photos library — that setting is off by default.

Viewing & Editing an Item

Tap any item and it opens ready to edit — there is no separate edit button and no mode to switch into. Change any field directly and your changes save automatically when you go back. Tap Cancel to discard them instead, or Delete to remove the item entirely.

Search, Filter & Sort

The Search tab looks across names, notes, and categories as you type. Narrow the results to a single category, and sort by Priority, Record Date, Reminder, or Expiry depending on what you are trying to answer. Each result shows its recorded date, next reminder, and repeat interval inline, which is often enough without opening the item at all. Sort by Priority to see items in the exact order you arranged them on the Home tab.

The Reminders Tab

This tab answers one question: what is coming? List view shows upcoming reminders grouped by month in chronological order, while Calendar view lays them out across a month or week for anyone who thinks spatially about time. The Due picker opens on All Pending so you see everything ahead at a glance, and narrows to Today, This Week, This Month, This Quarter, or This Year.

Managing Categories

In Settings → Category you can add, rename, reorder, or delete categories. RemGood ships with a sensible starting set, but the app works best when the categories match how you actually think about your life — specific ones like Finance, Health, and Warranty beat a single catch-all.

Deleting Items & the Recycle Bin

Deleted items are not gone immediately. They move to a recycle bin, found under Settings → Deleted Items, where you can restore anything you removed by mistake or delete it permanently once you are sure.

Cleaning Up Automatically

If you would rather not think about the recycle bin at all, open Settings → Auto-Delete Settings and pick a retention period. RemGood then quietly clears anything older, so deleted items do not accumulate indefinitely.

App Lock

Turn on Enable Passcode in Settings → Security and RemGood opens only with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode. Authentication is handled entirely by iOS; the app receives nothing more than whether it succeeded. It is off by default — one switch when you want it.

Appearance & Themes

Choose an App Mode — System, Light, or Dark — and an accent App Color. Premium themes go further with curated palettes such as Navy & Gold, Charcoal, and Deep Burgundy. It is a small amount of personalization on top of an interface that otherwise stays out of your way.

Backup & Restore

Because nothing syncs to a server, your backup file is how you move data between devices. Export produces a single file containing every item and attachment, and Import restores it later or onto a new phone. The file is compressed but not encrypted or password protected, so store it somewhere you trust and delete it once you have finished restoring. Back up before you upgrade or reset a device.

Privacy by Design

RemGood has no account, no sign-in, and no server. Everything you record is stored locally on your device, the app does not connect to the internet to send or receive your data, and there are no analytics, trackers, or third-party SDKs anywhere in it. The deliberate tradeoff is that devices do not sync — your iPhone and iPad each keep their own set of items, and the backup file is the bridge between them.

What RemGood Is Best For

RemGood is built for the everyday and the non-critical: service dates, filters, renewals, warranties, the restaurant dish you want to order again. As a precaution, avoid storing highly sensitive details — driver’s license numbers, passport numbers, or financial account numbers — in the app or in a backup file. Used the way it is intended, RemGood frees your mind: if it is in RemGood, it is remembered.
